Hi! My name is Jamie Steuerman. I have a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Hunter College and a Masters Degree in Literacy from Touro College.  Also, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, where my studies were concentrated in Public Relations and Spanish. In addition, I am certified in Literacy, Birth-6th and 5th-12th grades.  I also hold a certification in Elementary Education, Pre-k-6th grade.  Currently, I am a reading specialist in the Great Neck School School District. 

For over 20 years, I have been involved in the world of education by being a classroom teacher, reading specialist, mentor, advisor, curriculum writer, college professor, and tutor. I have been involved with many different committees, social media (@dailyreadingtips) and educational organizations. I am now proud to be part of the executive functioning community, which has a special place in my heart.

As a teacher and a parent, I have seen the positive impact education can have on a person at any age. To see the smile on a child's face from reading a challenging word to solving a math problem to getting on honor roll, is what being an educator is all about. It is important now more than ever that our children feel supported, safe, confident, and possess the skills they need to become successful in school and in life. As the philosopher Plutarch said, “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” My job is to be that fire by engaging and motivating children to become lifelong learners.
