I have a bachelor's degree in ASL interpreting from Bloomsburg University. While working as an educational interpreter on Long Island, I continued my education at St. Joseph's College. I obtained my master's degree in early childhood education.
I have worked in different settings and populations and developed various skills, which I still utilize in Plainview Old Bethpage School District as an ASL teacher for middle and high school. A goal of mine is to help each student believe in themselves, especially when learning becomes challenging. In and out of school, I pride myself on integrity, honesty, and respect.
My teaching style is highly adaptable because each student is different. I can fluctuate between being an authority, demonstrator, or facilitator by using an individual approach to teaching. Having defined goals that meet the needs of each individual person is another way I plan for instruction. By doing so, I can develop a plan, milestones, and assessments that evaluate the learning progress thus far. This allows for modifications and a more meaningful lesson.
