Fill In The Learning Gaps With HwH+

HwH+ Summer Intervention classes are sold as a package. Our intervention classes have a {3:1} student-to-teacher ratio. Students are assessed prior to being placed into a class. In order to meet the needs of students in a small group, we try to make the group as homogeneous as possible. Our classes provide intervention, for all students pre-k through college and beyond.

Summer Hub offers a wide variety of intervention classes such as executive functioning, ENL, Orton-Gillingham, Touch Math, and more. These classes offer targeted support to help students overcome challenges, develop skills and knowledge, and build confidence. Give your children the boost they need to succeed in the upcoming school year!

We also offer private instruction and can customize group classes for students with busy schedules who may not be able to attend our regularly scheduled classes. Parent consultation, comprehensive evaluation, ongoing assessment, and feedback throughout instruction are all a part of the Homework Hub's personal touch.

Sessions run for six weeks beginning Monday, July 14th through Thursday, August 21st
Classes can be prorated upon registration. All classes run based on enrollment (minimum of 2 students).

Registration is available online only.

Learn More About Our Intervention Classes:

  • ABA

ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis, is a therapy that uses principles of learning and behavior to improve socially significant behaviors. It's a data-driven approach focused on understanding how behavior works and how it can be changed to help students in need learn new skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and improve overall functioning.

  • SOCIAL SKILLS

A social skills group is a structured environment where students practice and improve their social interactions and communication skills. These groups are designed to help them learn and refine skills such as initiating and maintaining conversations, understanding social cues, resolving conflicts, and managing emotions.

  • VISUALIZING AND VERBALIZING

Visualizing and Verbalizing (V/V) is a learning program created by Linda Mood Bell that helps students develop concept imagery, the ability to create mental images from language. This skill is considered essential for comprehension and higher-order thinking. V/V aims to improve skills in: reading and listening comprehension, memory, oral vocabulary, critical thinking, and writing.

  • ORTON-GILLINGHAM

Orton-Gillingham is a structured literacy approach designed to help students, particularly those with dyslexia or anyone with reading delays, learn to read, write, and spell. It is a multisensory, systematic, and diagnostic method that breaks down language into smaller components, teaching foundational skills like phonological awareness, phonics, and morphology.

  • EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING

Executive Functioning (EF) coaching helps students improve real-life, day-to-day processing skills, i.e. proficiency in adaptable thinking, organization, time management, task initiation, self-control, study skills, and self-monitoring. These skills help students to perform well in school, work, and life.

  • ENGLISH AS A NEW LANGUAGE

English as a New Language or ENL is an instructional program for students whose first language is not English, focusing on developing English language proficiency for academic and social success in English-speaking environments.

  • SPEECH AND LANGUAGE

In speech and language class, students learn to improve their communication skills, including speech clarity, language comprehension and expression, and social communication skills. This can involve learning to pronounce sounds correctly, building vocabulary and grammar, understanding and following directions, and interacting effectively with others.

  • FINE MOTOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Fine motor occupational therapy (OT) is a specialized area of occupational therapy that focuses on developing and improving the small muscle movements in the hands and fingers, enabling students to perform everyday tasks with greater independence and efficiency. These skills are crucial for self-care, school activities, and various other tasks involving fine motor control.

  • HANDWRITING

We use the PAF (Preventing Academic Failure) Handwriting Program. It is a structured, multisensory approach that uses the Orton-Gillingham method to teach handwriting. It aims to improve legibility and is designed to help all students, including those with learning differences such as graphomotor weakness. The program emphasizes full-page models for tracing and copying, structured writing lines with reference points, and strategies to eliminate letter reversals.

  • STEP UP TO WRITING

Step Up to Writing is a comprehensive program of multisensory writing strategies that develop students’ ability to create thoughtful, well-written compositions. It is an explicit and systematic approach to teaching writing. It provides clear strategies, methods, and support for increased writing success.

  • TOUCHMATH

TouchMath is generally considered an evidence-based math intervention, particularly for students struggling with foundational math skills. It's a multisensory program that utilizes a concrete-representational-abstract (CRA) approach to help students develop mathematical understanding. Research suggests it can be effective in improving math achievement, especially in areas like addition, subtraction, and basic number sense.
