Homework Hub Home Policy

(Please read the following policy below carefully.)

At Home Lesson Scheduling: When assigned a new student, please contact the parent or guardian through HwH TalkingPoints (HwH Communication App) to introduce yourself and schedule the lesson. Please note, an adult must be home during the lesson.


Before scheduling any additional sessions independently, you must  confirm with Homework Hub that the student has a payment method on file. Once you have received confirmation, you may begin booking future at home sessions with that student. When a student’s package is running low, you will be notified and informed of how many sessions remain. (Homework Hub monitors student lesson packages.)


If a new student or parent reaches out to you directly through TalkingPoints to request services on their own, you must verify with Homework Hub that a payment method is on file before scheduling any lesson.


HwH Policies:

  • Please do not discuss finances with families; these questions need to be directed to the Homework Hub office.
  • All cancellations should be directed to the office in case you want to charge. (This way it will come from us and not from you.)
  • All communication between tutors and families must take place exclusively through HwH TalkingPoints.
  • Private texting between tutors and families is strictly prohibited.
  • Tutors may email virtual meeting links or student work materials as needed.


Session Length: Most sessions are 60 minutes; however, they may be scheduled for a minimum of 45 minutes, and there is no maximum time limit. (Lessons are rounded to the nearest 15 minutes and billed accordingly.) The session length will be determined at the time of scheduling. Always be prepared to extend learning, if work is completed before lesson is over, by introducing new material or reviewing previously covered topics. Please do not dismiss students early. (Parents and students notice even one minute early.)


Payment Policy:  Please do not accept payment from the clients. Homework Hub will handle all payment transactions. In order to document each lesson, please fill out the Lesson Plan Summary on our website (under Staff Forms) within 48 hours of the session. Once Homework Hub receives your summary, we will read it over and email it directly to the parent/s. It is then that your lesson is considered complete and you will be paid for your services.


Cancellation Policy: In order to maintain scheduling flexibility for both you and the students, HwH has a 24hr cancellation policy. However, to give families extra flexibility, teachers will be paid for any session cancelled after 11:00 am (late cancellation), provided they notify Tracy immediately that they will be charging for the cancelled session. In order to get paid, teachers must use that hour to come in and help in the office. If a teacher chooses to not work at the hub during that time slot, he/she will not be paid for the class.


If a student cancels at the last minute or does not show up, please contact the front desk as soon as possible. Within the first five minutes, text Tracy if you plan to charge for the missed lesson. If you choose to charge, Tracy will assign you work for that hour. This could include creating curriculum for HwH or reaching out to colleagues to find additional teachers. If you’re unable to reach her, please proceed with the outreach on your own.


Please be mindful that parents are often unhappy when charged for missed sessions. If a student has a legitimate reason and is typically reliable, you may want to consider not charging, as this can sometimes lead to the loss of a client.


Any teacher that chooses to charge the family for a late cancellation or no-show must complete a Student Cancellation Form, located on the Staff Forms page. Please note, we are not always able to charge families, and when they refuse, the cost is absorbed by the business. For this reason, we take tutors working during the canceled hour very seriously.
